BA in Journalism & Communication Studies

The under-graduate program in Journalism and Communication Studies is specifically designed to meet the requirements of the futuristic media scene. Beginning 2000, the institute cradled a unique integrated course in media studies combined with the right blend of computer application skills as well as providing a firm background in social, behavioural and policy sciences. Students with 10+2 of school education from any stream are eligible to enroll into this program, which is for a duration of six semesters.

MS Communication

A two-year post -graduate degree course MS Communication is open to graduates from all over the country. The students are trained in all aspects of media through rigorous assignments/projects demanding high competency to create, produce and present content for different media meeting rigid deadlines and professional standards. The four-semester course provides students an opportunity to specialise in Broadcast Media or Communication Management or Print and New Media or Media Studies.

Doctorate Program

The Institute has introduced Ph.D. in Communication in the academic year 2000-01. The Doctor of Philosophy in Communication is the highest degree conferred by MIC, and it is granted on evidence of general proficiency, distinctive attainment in the field, and particularly on ability for independent investigation as demonstrated in a dissertation presenting original research.

A.M.Plus

Every student admitted to the course shall bring out the assigned number of issues of A.M.Plus, a fortnightly campus/ community newspaper as a student editor under the guidance of a faculty member.

Internship

Internship in a media organisation is an essential academic requirement for the students. Each student spends at least 8 - 10 weeks undergoing training during the course of study.
